We understand that extractions are a serious matter, and it’s okay to feel nervous for your child in the event that they need one. However, with our skilled team, you can rest easy! At Shaenfield Pediatric Dentistry, we go above and beyond to make the procedure as stress-free as possible. We want to ensure that both you and your child know what to expect and feel comfortable throughout the entire process.

Reasons a Tooth May Need to be Removed

It’s important to note that we’ll never put your child through oral surgery unless it is absolutely necessary. While every child is different, there are a variety of factors that may contribute to their need for a tooth extraction. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • Baby Teeth Crowding Other Teeth
  • Decayed Baby Teeth
  • Impacted Baby Teeth
  • Dental Injury
  • Loose Adult Tooth
  • Orthodontic Preparation
  • Problematic Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the third molars. They often erupt in a patient’s teen years, but in certain cases, we may recommend extracting them for younger kids as well. Wisdom teeth are one of the most commonly extracted teeth because they can often cause a variety of dental issues for patients and negatively affect their oral health.

When your child visits us for their biannual checkups, we’ll keep an eye on their wisdom teeth to ensure that they aren’t causing any problems.

Sedation Dentistry

Our top priority is to make sure that your child feels at ease throughout the extraction process. In addition to thoroughly numbing the area before we begin, we also have a variety of sedation options ranging from mild to heavy states of sedation. We offer:

  • Nitrous oxide is administered through a soft mask that we place over the nose. It will help your child feel less nervous and even a little giggly, too.
  • Oral sedation is a great option for kiddos with more severe anxiety or undergoing a complex procedure. It’s administered through liquid medicine or a pill before the appointment.
  • General anesthesia is used specifically for oral surgery. If general anesthesia is used, we carefully monitor your child throughout the procedure.

Affordable Tooth Extractions

We want every aspect of your child’s tooth extraction to be smooth sailing and that includes the financial portion, too. We offer and accept a range of payment options to help you fit your child’s oral surgery needs into your budget.

During your little one’s consultation, we’ll walk you through a cost breakdown of their procedure and go over your financial options. We believe in complete transparency and will never try to surprise you with hidden fees.
