Tooth decay, or cavities, can rapidly deteriorate teeth when not addressed. One way to prevent cavities and help strengthen your child’s smile is through fluoride treatments! Fluoride treatments can positively affect your child’s dental development when combined with routine dental visits and good oral hygiene. To schedule your child’s treatment with our friendly team, please contact our office using our virtual contact form or give us a call.
Contact UsFluoride is a natural mineral found in food and water. This natural mineral can help rebuild tooth enamel and reverse early tooth decay. When your child visits our office for fluoride treatments, we apply the fluoride to their teeth in a topical form like gel, foam, or varnish. We then request that your child not rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes to an hour to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride to receive its benefits.
The American Dental Association recommends fluoride treatment every three, six, or 12 months. This period will vary depending on your child’s oral health. At Shaenfield Pediatric Dentistry, we consider your child’s oral health, dental development, and age to determine how much fluoride can safely help prevent tooth decay and promote strong teeth.
If your child has dental insurance, their dental cleanings and exams are likely covered. Dental cleanings are a great way to prevent cavities and remember when to receive fluoride treatments. If your child does not have dental insurance, our office offers and accepts a variety of ways families can pay for their care while still being budget-friendly. To determine if your dental insurance covers fluoride treatments or to learn more about financing the cost of your child’s treatment, contact our office for further information.
